A Harris Consulting understands the challenges that can arise as a therapist when navigating through complicated clinical areas with your clients. There are times when you need guidance on best practices from a colleague with specialized expertise to gain new perspectives. Sometimes topics come up in sessions that are beyond your scope of clinical practice. We offer insight into modifying treatment plans to incorporate appropriate interventions, case conceptualization support, and specialized client assessment tools targeting specific treatment areas, and help you evaluate when it is appropriate to refer out for specialized treatment for your clients. We can provide initial consultation or ongoing supportive services. We offer collaborative consultation for clients with trauma, including recent and complex chronic trauma, addiction, alcohol moderation, family members of those with addictions, perinatal mood disorders, chronic pain, grief, and thought disorders with psychosis.
At A Harris Consulting, we implement a number of validated measures to determine the most clinically appropriate level of care for a client for mental health, addiction or dual diagnosis treatment. Including collateral information is an essential assessment component. The assessment is based on subjective and objective measures using a bio-psycho-social framework. In behavioral health, the full spectrum of treatment includes psychoeducation/early intervention, outpatient therapy usually weekly, intensive outpatient therapy at least three times a week, partial hospitalization weekday treatment, residential care, and inpatient acute hospitalization for medical detox of psychiatric stabilization. Recommending the appropriate level of care is an ethical obligation to manage care while reducing risk. The assessment recommendation is done to ensure someone is matched to the right type of treatment based on their symptoms supporting optimal recovery.
